Khojir national park with an area of 10013 hectares stands at East side of Tehran, near another famous national park which is Sorkhe Hesar. Khojir national park is one of the oldest protected areas in Iran since 1983 and because of its distance from Tehran; it remains intact in comparison to similar national parks. It is greatly considerable in terms of biodiversity and ecological values.  The major portion of this territory is a base for immigrant birds during winter.
Access to this park can be gained from the Khojir and Qasr-e-Firoozeh Roads.

  • Animals like leopard, striped hyena, goats, sheep, red fox, wild boar, wild cat, pallas cat, gray wolf, jackal and badger.
  • Different types of snakes like: horned viper, viper, leopard,  fire, worm snake, Susan snake, worm, Malpolon monspessulanus.
  • Other reptiles like desert monitor and spur-thighed tortoise.
  • Bird’s species like: partridge, lapwing, Eurasian teal.
  • Variety of prey birds such as slab, eagles and Common buzzard live in this area.
  • Considering plants attraction we can mention wild anemones in early spring which are from fabulous natural attractions in this area.

1 Day Tour Itinerary:

Drive from Tehran to Khojir (38 KM) for the daily tour.
By a few hours’ walk one can not only see a collection of plants and animals, but also a great view of Mount Damavand, the highest mount in Iran. Variety of flora and fauna specious are available here.
Having lunch in the Shad Garden (previously known as Shad Garden) which had been the resting place of Iranian Sultans for 200 years.
