Tour Guides in Iran:
We recommend you to bring an updated guide book with you to your trip. Also suggest to go into “Lonely Planet” website which has done a great job putting together a great and useful travel guide to Iran.You may also hire a local travel guide which can be very helpful, it will cost around $20 a day, and the cities that we recommend a travel guide for you are the cities Shiraz, Isfahan and Tehran, because there are so many different places to see and visit that they’re highly recommended.Moreover, guides are useful where when you are deciding to go on long rides or out of town for hiking, mountaineering.
American Travelers must have a tour guide with them when traveling to Iran. The reason being is that the government does not like to get into some unwanted controversy for example taking pictures from places that are not allowed. Here are some points regarding activities in Iran:
Beaches:
Persian Gulf beaches in Kish Island and the Caspian sea are perhaps the only beaches that you may go to. There are rules and policies that male and female need to be separated in public beaches. You can not also be totally nude at any time. But if you go to a swimming pool that is not public, it’s OK.
Mountaineering:
Not only in the trekking field is Iran renowned, but it is very much admired in the mountaineering fields. Iran is home to one of the highest mountains in the region including Mount Damavand, Mount Sabalan, Mount Dena, Mount Alvand and many other peaks famous for mountaineering.
Skiing:
For you Skier we think that “Dizin” is the best place you can Ski. There are places like Shemshak, Darband and Tochal that are closer to Tehran. Ski season in Dizin is from the end of October till mid April. Dizin has a great slope, its actually an international slope where grass ski competitions are carried out during summer. Dizin is located 12km from Tehran. There are couple of good hotels in Dizin, great shops where you are able to rent Ski gears for yourself and family.
