About one block from the tomb of Hafiz, Saadi’s corpse rests in peace. He escaped the invasion of Mongols and traveled to Baghdad where he studied philosophy and Sufism. He came back to Shiraz with two souvenirs after traveling to different countries such as India, Pakistan, Syria, etc. that he had composed Golestan (meaning a garden of roses) and Bustan (the Orchard) some verses of which are brought below:
Human beings are members of a whole, In creation of one essence and soul.
If one member is afflicted with pain, Other members uneasy will remain.
If you’ve no sympathy for human pain, the name of human you cannot retain.
When you travel here you feel as if you have traveled to the past and its holy attractions, in addition to the holiness, have exquisite mirror works, tile works and other beautiful arts that are specific to Islamic architecture, when you visit tombs of famous Persian poets, Hafiz and Saadi, and contemplate their poems you get lost in an atmosphere full of spirituality.
