During the winter temperature falls down to around 5 to 10 centigrade in most of the country . But north and west of the country will experience much colder weather . if you happen to want to come around in that period you might as well try to try visiting Kish Island in Persian gulf, a 45 minutes would get you to Shiraz or Tehran , where you can go to great Ski resort for ski!!

20 march through 1 April is the unofficial Iranian new year holidays that almost all the country is shot down and people don't work. they instead spend time visiting family and friends and good number of the, perhaps in tens of millions, would travel around the country to different cities. You really need to be aware of this , since finding hotel , tickets ...etc is like crazy. if you really have to be there during that period, try to book at least 45 days ahead of time. Don't let it to the last minute , which makes you really regret it. Hotels are mostly overbooked and prices of accommodation and tickets are at least double. Try to schedule to be in Iran after 1st April onward or before 20 march.
Here is the list of holidays:

These holidays are more religious ones , when if you happened to be down here, you can go to the mosques and watch the mourning and commemoration ceremonies that are actually worth visiting. however you need to know that the public offices like visa extension offices and sightseeing are closed .
